Astrea secures 270,000 sq.ft. planning consent on a large island site in Mayfair

Astrea has secured a further two significant planning consents as they continue to re-position the Berkeley Square Estate.

The resolutions to grant consent will enable Astrea to comprehensively re-position 50 Berkeley Street and 50 Stratton Street, which together form a large island site between Green Park Station and Berkeley Square.

The  Stiff+Trevillion designed scheme will comprise 270,000 sq.ft. of fully refurbished office space and extensive new private and communal rooftop terraces across both buildings, created by Andy Sturgeon Design.                   Both buildings will boast sizeable end of trip facilities and significantly enhanced amenities and environmental performance, with the scheme targeting a minimum BREAAM Excellent rating.

50 Berkeley Street will offer 175,000 sq.ft. of Grade A office space, benefiting from large lateral 23,000 sq.ft. floor plates, generous floor-to-ceiling heights and a VIP entrance.

50 Stratton Street will provide 94,000 sq.ft. of Grade A office space with newly designed 12,000 sq.ft. office floors and 9,000 sq.ft. of restaurant and retail space incorporated at ground floor level.

Construction is expected to commence in Summer 2022.

Astrea has now secured planning consents for six large West End office redevelopments in the last 12 months.

Peter Pulford, Head of Development at Astrea said in a statement: “We are delighted to have received Westminster’s support for these two exciting schemes which represent another significant milestone in our development pipeline. It is testament to the team’s hard work and dedication that we have been able to achieve this in the most challenging of circumstances.”

Giles Easter, Chief Executive of Astrea said in a statement: “These consents represent our ongoing commitment to reposition the Berkeley Square Estate through the delivery of first class developments with outstanding design in fantastic locations.”

Montagu Evans and RX London have been jointly instructed as office agents for the 50 Berkeley Street scheme.
