Astrea secures planning consent at 20-22 Berkeley Square

Astrea has secured another notable planning consent as they continue to re-position the Berkeley Square Estate.

The extensive refurbishment of 20-22 Berkeley Square will deliver 22,000 sq ft of new Grade A office space, a remodelled art deco-inspired reception that complements the building’s original 1930’s character, and a new 2,000 sq ft retail/restaurant unit fronting Berkeley Square.

The scheme designed by Barr Gazetas also includes both private and communal roof terraces, offering rare and exceptional panoramic views across Berkeley Square.

Construction will commence in Autumn 2021 with completion due by early 2023, alongside improvements to the public realm in the square and surrounding streets.

Gaining this consent represents another success for Astrea, following their consent for the redevelopment of                36-38 Berkeley Square obtained in April last year, and builds on their mandate to ensure that Berkeley Square continues to offer the highest quality office accommodation in Mayfair.

Peter Pulford, Head of Development at Astrea said “This consent enables us to re-position another key building overlooking Berkeley Square and to continue our sustainability drive by targeting a BREEAM Outstanding rating.”

Giles Easter, Chief Executive of Astrea said “This marks another important achievement for the team and underlines our strategy to secure Berkeley Square’s status as the premier destination for occupiers in the West End of London”.

Montagu Evans and BNP Paribas have been jointly instructed as office agents and Hanover Green has been solely instructed as retail agent for the scheme.

Astrea is responsible for managing a significant portfolio of UK real estate assets which includes the Berkeley Square Estate.
